EVONNE's FERNERY
A warm Welcome to all the Fern enthusiasts out there!
Wanna know what sort of ornamnental FERNS there are in the gardens of SINGAPORE , along the lovely roads of this garden city ???? Well, you have stepped on the right spot! In here, photos taken for my research project with my fern supervisor A/P Benito Tan would be exhibited for all to enjoy and view!
Many would ask WHAT are ferns?? So here's what FERNS are!
The word "fern" comes from the old English word fearn, which means feather. Why feather? Most people think of ferns as plants with lacy, delicate fronds as their leaves are called. The fronds thus look very much like feathers. Ferns belong to the group of non-flowering plants. They do not bear flowers and thus produce no fruits or seeds. Instead, they produce spores- thousands of them. Turn over a frond and it may be covered with brown spore sacs, or sporangia. Each sporangium is packed tight with microscpoic brown spores. When mature, the dust like spores are shed. Again, not all fern spres are brown or black. there are green and yellowspores as well.
Aright! No more lengthy stuff! Let's view some of the fern pictures I have taken along the roads of SINGAPORE!
